Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026 · DRAFT — requires attorney review before launch

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide usage information to site operators. Cookies may be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (remain on your device for a period of time).

We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage for the same purposes described in this policy.

2. Cookies We Use

Brandkept uses a minimal set of cookies, limited to those necessary for the service to function and for basic analytics.

Session and Authentication Cookies

Strictly Necessary

Purpose: These cookies are essential for you to be able to log in, stay logged in, and use authenticated features. Without these cookies, the service cannot function.

Provider: Brandkept / Supabase Auth

What they store: Session token (encrypted), user ID, session expiry timestamp

Retention: Session cookies deleted on browser close; persistent auth tokens expire after 24 hours of inactivity or 7 days maximum

Can you opt out? No — these are required for the service to work. Blocking them will prevent login.

Preference Cookies

Functional

Purpose: Remembering your preferences such as language selection, display settings, and dismissed notifications.

Provider: Brandkept

What they store: Language preference, UI state flags, onboarding completion status

Retention: Up to 12 months, or until you clear your browser data

Can you opt out? Yes — you can clear these via your browser settings. The service will still function but preferences will not be remembered.

Analytics Cookies (PostHog)

Optional

Purpose: Understanding how users interact with Brandkept so we can improve the product. We use PostHog for privacy-friendly product analytics.

Provider: PostHog (posthog.com)

What they store: Anonymous user identifier, pages visited, features used, session duration. We do not send PostHog personally identifiable information or children's data.

Retention: PostHog analytics cookies persist for up to 1 year

Can you opt out? Yes — see Section 5 for opt-out instructions.

3. No Advertising Cookies

Brandkept does not use any third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or behavioral advertising technologies. We do not participate in any advertising networks. We do not track users across other websites for advertising purposes.

Because we handle children's data, we maintain a strict policy of zero advertising tracking on our platform. This applies to all users, not just users with children's data in their accounts.

4. PostHog Analytics

We use PostHog, a privacy-focused product analytics platform, to understand how our users interact with Brandkept. This helps us identify bugs, prioritize features, and improve the service.

What PostHog collects

  • An anonymous user identifier (not linked to your name or email)
  • Page views and navigation paths
  • Feature interactions (e.g., which buttons were clicked, which forms were submitted)
  • Session duration and approximate geographic region (country/state level)
  • Browser type, operating system, and device type

What PostHog does NOT collect from Brandkept

  • Your name or email address
  • Any children's information
  • Income amounts, brand deal details, or any financial data
  • The content of any forms you fill out

PostHog's privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy. We have configured PostHog to anonymize IP addresses and to respect Do Not Track browser settings.

5. How to Opt Out

Opt out of PostHog analytics

You can opt out of PostHog analytics tracking using any of the following methods:

  1. In-product opt-out:Navigate to Settings → Privacy in your Brandkept account and toggle off "Product analytics." This stores your opt-out preference and prevents PostHog from capturing any events for your session.
  2. Browser "Do Not Track": Enable the Do Not Track (DNT) setting in your browser. Brandkept respects DNT signals and will disable PostHog analytics for users with DNT enabled.
  3. Browser extension: You can use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin to block the PostHog analytics script at app.posthog.com.
  4. Clear cookies: Clearing your browser cookies will remove the PostHog identifier. Note: if you do not also opt out via Settings, a new identifier will be created on your next session.

Managing cookies in your browser

All modern browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can view, delete, and block cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies (authentication cookies) will prevent you from logging in to Brandkept.

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our technology, practices, or legal requirements. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.

For material changes, we will notify you via email or via a notice within the Brandkept application.
